Welcome! This site is the home of the xPGIS Paleogeographic Mapping Suite for MacOSX. This project is intended to be a part open-source and part freeware project to bring paleogeographic mapping tools to groups that couldn't afford the software previously. This project is intended to encourage those who generate paleogeographic mapping data to release the data alone and to update those data often. Some groups generate income by selling the software, but to those that use those data would prefer that those groups concentrate on updating the data. If you'd like to participate in this project, see the requested contributors list below. If you generate paleogeographic maps and data and you'd like to consider releasing your data for xPGIS, contact me ASAP for compatibility with the software.

xPGIS Applications Currently Under Development Rotation Manager Pro: This application is for quick and organized development and editing of paleogeographic data (plate rotations). It will include the ability to rotate some data files. (See the link for details for BETA Testing). Alpha testers should contact me for current builds.

xPGIS Frameworks Currently Under Development PaleoX.framework: This framework contains the basic class definitions of rotation poles (PXRotationPole) and tectonic plates (PXTectonicPlate) and the basic plate rotation math. It will also include APIs to interface with several data file formats.

Frameworks will likely be released under some form of open source license. If you have an opinion of what kind of license it should be under (e.g. BSD, GNU), let me know.

Localization Experts - xPGIS apps will be designed with multiple languages in mind. If you'd like to translate or verify word and phrase translations already in the application, your help will be welcome.

Paleogeographic Project Teams - If you generate paleogeographic data, and you'd like to distribute your data, contact me about making the software compatible with your needs (there will be no fees, but sample data sets will be required).
